Brandon Miller sits out the second half of the season opener due to a left hip injury

Charlotte Hornet second-year winger Brandon Miller suffered a left hip injury during the first half of the season opener against the Rockets. After playing his normal nine-minute period in the first quarter, Miller was delayed in checking in during the second quarter. He eventually returned, but had to leave the match after just one minute of action.

At halftime, the Hornets provided the update below, ruling him out of the second half of the game.

Miller’s future availability is unknown at this time, but if the injury was enough to keep him out of the second half of the season opener, it could be serious enough to negate a multi-game absence force.

It is unclear when Miller suffered the injury, as there was no apparent moment in the first quarter when it appeared he had injured his left hip. Maybe it was his nasty dunk early in the first quarter, or a four-point play where he was fouled shooting a three.

Check back with Hornets on SI in the coming days for further injury updates.
