Brent Pry evaluates Collin Schlee in first half vs. Syracuse

Virginia Tech backup quarterback Collin Schlee gave up the start for the Hokies on Saturday Syracuse as Kyron drones couldn’t go.

Schlee played well in the first half, helping Virginia Tech take a 14-3 lead at halftime. The former Kent state And UCLA quarterback went 10-for-15 and passed for 144 yards before halftime. He also had a rushing touchdown.

Hokies head coach Brent Pry shared what he saw in the first half of Collin Schlee while speaking to the CW.

‘Yes, I thought he played the game well. I thought he played fast. We executed the offense,” Brent Pry said. “One throw he would probably like to get back, but he did a good job. He has played a few times and managed the game.”

Collin Schlee is in his first season at Virginia Tech. He had attempted just one pass all season against Syracuse.

According to Andy Bitter, Kyron Drones stands on the sideline with his left foot in a walking boot.

In addition to Kyron Drones, Virginia Tech is also without a star running back Bhayshul Tuten.

He dressed for the match but did not play the first half. Tuten has put up huge numbers for Virginia Tech, rushing for 951 yards and 12 touchdowns in eight games this season. He also has 18 receptions for 56 yards and two touchdowns. After his four-touchdown game against Boston CollegePry praised him, saying, “He’s a dog.”

Virginia Tech defense is playing well

In addition to Collin Schlee’s play, Brent Pry is also satisfied with the way his defense is playing. The Hokies allowed just three points in the first half while forcing a few turnovers.

“Yeah, I think it’s the takeaways,” Pry said of what was crucial for the defense. “Two very important insights about the drives that Syracuse had.”

Virginia Tech outscored Syracuse 261 to 152 in the first half, picking off Orange quarterback Kyle McCord and also forcing a fumble.
