Brianna LaPaglia says Zach Bryan got mad at her for singing Morgan Wallen

  • Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia said ex-boyfriend Zach once got mad at her for singing a Morgan Wallen song
  • LaPaglia said Bryan “freaked out” after she sang Wallen’s “Last Night” in their New York City apartment
  • The podcast host accused Bryan of emotional abuse in an episode of the series BFFs podcast

Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia says ex-boyfriend Zach Bryan wasn’t a fan of her singing country hits from other artists.

The podcast host, 25, opened up about her relationship with singer-songwriter Bryan in an explosive episode of hers BFFs podcast on Thursday, Nov. 7 — and revealed that he once reportedly got mad at her for singing Morgan Wallen’s hit “Last Night.”

‘I have something that I think I need to put aside for a while. One morning we were out the night before, and one morning I woke up, or I was like, scrolling through TikTok, and ‘Last night we left the drink talk…’ was in my head,” LaPaglia said on the podcast, as she sang the lyrics of the song.

The social media star said she was walking up the stairs at the couple’s New York City apartment, singing Wallen’s No. 1 hit along the way to make breakfast, and Bryan, 28, “totally freaked out.”

“So, I went completely crazy,” she repeated. “For example, he couldn’t believe it: ‘You’re singing another man’s song under my roof in this house that I own.’ It was a weeklong battle, I think, (because) I came up the stairs and said, ‘Last night we let the booze talk.’”

LaPaglias BFFs co-host Dave Portnoy then asked if Bryan’s problem had to do specifically with 31-year-old Wallen, though LaPaglia said she didn’t know.

She then revealed that she “wasn’t really allowed to listen to Noah Kahan” because she “listened to him too much.”

The allegations came during a bombshell podcast episode in which LaPaglia alleged that Bryan was emotionally abusive during their relationship, which ended in October after more than a year.

The “Something in the Orange” singer announced the split last month in a statement he shared on Instagram, saying he had “personally had an incredibly difficult year” and “thought it would be helpful for both of us to to go our different ways.”

LaPaglia said at the time that she was “blindsided” by his statement, as they had only broken up the day before and had agreed to announce things on her terms.

On the podcast, LaPaglia said that Bryan’s team offered her twelve million dollars to sign a non-disclosure agreement that would keep her from talking about their relationship. She claimed that Bryan’s other exes had signed non-disclosure agreements.

“The last year of my life was the hardest year of my life dealing with the abuse from this guy,” she said. “I’m still scared now because I’m scared of him. My brain has been rewired and I’m scared of making him mad, and last week I didn’t want to talk about it because I was scared.”

She explained that she chose not to sign the NDA because she wanted to be open about her alleged experiences “to anyone who has been emotionally abused and to people who are currently being emotionally abused.”

Bryan — for whom a rep did not respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment — has not publicly responded to LaPaglia’s allegations. On the same night the podcast was released, he released two new songs, ‘High Road’ and ‘This World’s A Giant’.

On Friday, November 8, he expressed his excitement about the seventeen remaining dates of his Quittin’ Time tour.

“I’ve never been so excited to finish a run. It’s been a long time coming and I’m so grateful for everyone who came to a show this year,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “See you on the road and we love you.”
