Browns 24, Steelers 19 | Final score, statistics and game overview

At Huntington Bank Field, which looked more like a snow globe than a football stadium, the Browns earned their third win of the season in a thrilling 24-19 victory over the Steelers.

The Browns held an 18-6 lead in the fourth quarter, but a pair of turnovers led to the Steelers holding a one-point lead with just under three and a half minutes remaining.

After the Steelers scored a touchdown to cut the Browns’ lead to five points, QB Jameis Winston was sacked on the next drive and fumbled with the football. On the next drive, after the Steelers had taken the lead, Winston threw an interception.

The Browns stormed back, however, as Winston led a game-winning 45-yard drive capped by the second rushing touchdown of the day by RB Nick Chubb. The Browns converted twice on fourth down en route to regaining the lead.

Key moments

Nick Chubb scores twice in the first game against Steelers since returning from injury

Before the Browns’ Week 12 game against the Steelers, Chubb was asked if he felt any additional emotion for the team against whom he suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 2 of the 2023 season.

Chubb, known for his level-headedness and consistency, gave an unsurprising response.

“I mean, it’s a football game,” Chubb said. “I have to go out there and play, so no matter what happens, who we play or who we face, I’m always in the same mindset.”

Chubb found the end zone twice against the Steelers, including on the final drive of the game. After Winston led the Browns to the Pittsburgh 2-yard line, Chubb ended the drive in the end zone.

Chubb also opened the scoring for the Browns, rushing for a two-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

The seven-year veteran finished with 20 carries for 59 yards and two touchdowns.

Myles Garrett’s dominance is on display

Highlighted by a three-sack performance in the first half, DE Myles Garrett showed those at Huntington Bank Field why he won the Defensive Player of the Year award last season.

The Steelers approached the red zone on their first drive of the game, facing third-and-3 at the Browns 32-yard line.

Russell Wilson dropped back and the pocket collapsed around him, with Garrett taking him down for his first sack of the game, for a loss of eight yards. K Chris Boswell missed the ensuing field goal attempt and the Browns took over at their own 48-yard line.

After Chubb found the end zone for the game’s first touchdown, Garrett got the ball right back on the next drive.

Garrett beat his man to the backfield and threw an arm out, knocking the ball out of Wilson’s hands for a strip sack. LB Winston Reid dove on the loose ball and the Browns connected on a field goal attempt thanks to positive field position.

Garrett recorded his third sack of the first half on the next drive, sacking Wilson on the final play of the half, drawing a raucous cheer as the Browns headed to the locker room with a 10–3 lead.

Jerry Jeudy comes into action on the Browns final drive

Tensions were high as the snow was brutal on the Browns’ final drive.

After two straight incompletions, the Browns faced fourth-and-3 at the Pittsburgh 38-yard line. Instead of attempting a field goal, Winston connected with WR Jerry Jeudy for a five-yard gain that kept the drive and the Browns’ hopes of winning alive.

Later in the drive, on third-and-6 from the Pittsburgh 29-yard line, Winston found Jeudy again for a 15-yard gain that set up Chubb’s game-winning touchdown.

Jeudy finished with six receptions for 85 yards with a long of 26 yards.
