Caitlin Clark scores a personal best 31 points while Angel Reese sets a double-double record in the Fever victory

In their fourth game of the 2024 WNBA season, the Indiana Fever came back to defeat the Chicago Sky 100-81. Fever rookie Caitlin Clark scored a career-high 31 points and was the season’s leading scorer, with 12 assists.

With the victory, Fever won the season series 3-1.

The Sky started aggressively, jumping out to a 21-9 lead midway through the first quarter. It looked like they were going to blow the Fever off the floor. But Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull helped Indiana cut the margin to 26-23 by the end of the quarter.

Clark made a 3-pointer to tie the score at 29-29 and followed it up with another 3 for the lead. The Fever took control from there and quickly built a 10-point lead. Chicago kept the game close until the third quarter, but Angel Reese and Michaela Onyen each picked up four personal fouls, which affected the Sky’s defensive effort.

Clark made 5 of 9 3-pointers and was 10 of 11 from the free throw line. Mitchell followed with 23 and NaLyssa Smith added 14 points with seven rebounds. Hull continued her hot shooting from 3, knocking down 3 of 4 attempts and finishing with 11 points.

Reese scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her 23rd double-double of the season, breaking the WNBA rookie record previously held by Tina Charles. Michaela Onyenwere led the Sky with 20 points and Lindsay Allen added 19 with four rebounds and six assists. Kamilla Cardoso had 10 rebounds.

The Sky were without leading scorer Chennedy Carter (17.2 points per game), who missed the game due to health and safety protocolsChicago also missed Carter’s strong defense against Clark, though Diamond DeShields appeared to try with a hockey check on the Fever star late in the fourth quarter.

Indiana improves to 16-16, tops .500 for the first time this season and passes the Phoenix Mercury for sixth place in the WNBA standings. (The Fever went 3-0 against the Mercury this season, winning a tiebreaker.) Since the Olympic break, the Fever are 4-1 and have won eight of their last 11 games.

Chicago falls to 11-20, narrowly ahead of the Atlanta Dream for the No. 8 seed (and final playoff spot) in the league. The Sky have lost five of their six games since the Olympic break.

Both the Fever and Sky play on Sunday. Chicago has a game against the Minnesota Lynx at 3 p.m. ET, while Indiana takes on the Dallas Wings at 4 p.m. ET.
