Caleb Williams has never looked better as a No. 1 pick

In a battle of the quarterbacks, Chicago Bears signal caller Caleb Williams reached new heights in his team’s 35-16 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Williams, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, set new career highs in single-game completion percentage (79.3%) and touchdowns (four) while throwing for 226 yards and rushing for 56. Williams’ quarterback rating of 88.2 was also his best single-game mark through the first six games of his career as his Bears defeated Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars in London.

Some of Williams’ throws were as eye-catching as his stats, like this dart to Keenan Allen for the Bears’ third score of the game.

Williams also showed off his skills as a runner, such as during this 24-yard scramble in the second quarter.

After a slow start to the season, Williams’ play has steadily improved. He threw for zero touchdowns in his first two games before throwing for five in his last three before nearly matching that total in one game on Sunday.

And his strong streak has resulted in team success. Chicago has won three in a row and is now 4-2, remaining competitive in a division where all teams have a winning record.

The Bears have a bye next week before playing a big game against the Washington Commanders on October 27.

Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has outperformed Williams so far this season, but the gap has closed significantly in recent weeks. The game against Washington will also be Williams’ first chance at a signature win; every win for the Bears this season came against an opponent with just one win.

After Sunday’s game, Williams has now thrown for 1,317 yards with nine touchdowns and five interceptions.
