Carrots sold at Costco, Walmart and more recalled

According to the Food and Drug Administration, several organic whole and baby carrot products are being recalled. This follows one E.coli investigating outbreaks linked to contaminated carrots, resulting in 39 illnesses, 15 hospitalizations and one death.

The recalled carrots were sold at popular retailers such as Costco, Kroger, Sprouts, Target, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, Wegmans, Whole Foods and more. They were sold nationwide in the US, as well as in Canada and Puerto Rico.

The following organic whole carrots are being recalled, all purchased from retailers from August 14 through October 23:

If you have any of the above root products in your refrigerator or freezer, throw them away immediately or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. E.coli bacteria can cause a serious infection, including symptoms such as stomach cramps, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and fever. If you think you are sick after consuming the affected roots, contact your doctor as soon as possible.
