CeeDee Lamb ends holdout with Cowboys after reaching huge overtime: Reports

CeeDee Lamb’s tenure with the Dallas Cowboys is over, as he has reportedly agreed to a massive contract extension that will see him return to the team for the 2024 regular season.

Lamb and the Cowboys signed a four-year contract worth a reported $136 million, making him the second-highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.

His $34 million per season extension is just $1 million less than Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson, who agreed to an extension with his squad this midseason worth $35 million per season.

Lamb’s finally inking a deal with the Cowboys comes after the All-Pro wideout reportedly saw the team increase his contract extension after requesting more than $33 million per year earlier on Monday.

The Cowboys have also reportedly reduced the number of years under the deal to four, which is also the case with contract extensions for receivers such as Jefferson, Amon-Ra St. Brown and AJ Brown.

COWBOYS REPORTEDLY RAISE BID TO TRANSFER LAMB BY OVER $33 MILLION A YEAR

NFL Network added that Lamb was unhappy not only with the average annual value of the Cowboys’ previous proposed deal, but also with the cash flow and guaranteed money left on the table.

NFL Network reported that Lamb will get $100 million of his $136 million guaranteed with a $38 million signing bonus.

The 25-year-old has been out of Cowboys camp for the entire offseason and has not yet practiced with the team as contract negotiations continue. Meanwhile, his quarterback, Dak Prescott, who is also on a new contract and his current one expires at the end of the year, has been present.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made things more interesting in the public eye regarding Lamb after he told reporters he was in “no rush” to get anything done with his top receiver. Lamb eventually posted “lol” in response on social media, which many fans say led to a significant rift between the two.

But the deal is done and Lamb can happily return with two weeks to prepare with his teammates for the season opener against the Cleveland Browns.

Since entering the league as a first-round pick by the Cowboys in 2020, Lamb has improved with each passing season. A three-time Pro Bowler, Lamb set career highs last season with an NFL-leading 135 catches, 1,749 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns for a high-octane Cowboys offense that led them 12-5 in the NFC East.

Despite the question marks surrounding Prescott and head coach Mike McCarthy, Dallas understands the crucial role Lamb plays as the team’s top receiver and Prescott’s favorite target.

Despite the clear division and tension between the two sides, it always seemed likely that a deal would happen at some point before the season, as the Cowboys offense simply wouldn’t perform the same without Lamb on the wing.

Jones and the board gave him something he liked and now all eyes are on him for another chance to make the play-offs with him as number 88, catching plenty of passes along the way.
