CeeDee Lamb had a classy response to Troy Aikman’s claim that Cowboys WRs were ‘lazy’

The Dallas Cowboys will be back in a primetime spot on Sunday night when they travel to San Francisco to take on the 49ers in what has become a huge matchup for both struggling teams.

The Cowboys are just 3-3, coming off a 47-9 upset of the Lions in Week 6. The 49ers, meanwhile, are 3-4, having lost at home to the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday.

The Cowboys have received a lot of criticism so far this season, including some sharp words from their former QB, Hall of Famer Troy Aikman. The three-time Super Bowl champion recently polled the team’s receivers and said they can be lazy at times and struggle to run good routes.

“I think they’re running terrible routes,” Aikman said earlier this month. ‘And I also thought that after this year. I think CeeDee (Lamb) needs to improve in his route running. As a quarterback, if you’re not sure where guys are going to be consistently, it’s hard to play that position. That’s what I see. I see guys lazily coming off the line of scrimmage. Sometimes they run, usually when they do it’s because they expect they’re going to get the football on that play, but if they don’t, they don’t. And it’s all connected. I’m not impressed with that part of it.”

Lamb had a stylish answer to that during an interview with NBC’s Jason Garrett that airs Sunday evening:

“I as a leader obviously take it in,” Lamb said. ‘You have to work. I use it as a building block. If you say those routes are lazy and all that, then let’s go here every week. And I’m going to show you that my routes. You know? Personally, I consider that constructive criticism. You can’t really take everything personally in this area of work that we do.

“Especially the things we have control over. So if we can control it, let’s get out here, work on it and continue to get better. As for me, I go to work, I am a hard worker. So anything you say I don’t do, I’ll show you what I do.”

Cowboys fans are hoping Lamb and Co. be ready to leave after the bye week.
