Celebrities mourn Ethel Kennedy on X, from Sinatra to Obama to Shriver

Shortly after Ethel Kennedy’s death, the public news, celebrities – went out former US President Barack Obama Unpleasant Nancy Sinatra to many members of the Kennedy clan – went to X to convey fond memories and condolences.

“My aunt, Ethel Kennedy, passed away this morning,” Maria Shriver wrote on X. “What a life she lived. What a tremendous family she created and left behind.”

“Ethel Kennedy was a dear friend with a passion for justice, an irrepressible spirit and a great sense of humor,” Obama wrote. “She touched the lives of countless people around the world with her generosity and grace, and was an emblem of enduring faith and hope even in the face of unimaginable grief. Michelle and I are thinking of the Kennedy family and all those who loved this extraordinary woman.”

Posts on the social media site feature decades of photos of a woman whose ongoing work, prominent political family and legacy often put her in the spotlight. Black-and-white images of the family matriarch’s childhood, wedding, funeral and even beach photos flashed steadily across the social media site Thursday.

Kennedy was 96 when she died. She was born on April 11, 1928.
