Charlie Kirk’s college tour angers female students over abortion

Kirk recently went viral with his Jubilee video in which he debated young liberals on topics such as abortion, race and the LGBTQ+ community. Many TikTok users mocked Kirk by latching on to a clip in which a USC student challenged him about abortion.

“Charlie Kirk has really blown up over social media in the last month,” said Morgan Kilbourne, a sophomore majoring in journalism. Teen fashion. “He has definitely become an online persona for our generation just because he has debated so many students – and a lot of them have really stood their ground and made good points.”

Kilbourne added, “He’s just a weird guy. He’s a big interrupter. I just wanted to see it in real time.”

Ashley Thornton, a sophomore and criminal justice major, said she went to the event after seeing the debate videos go viral on TikTok. “It’s great that he’s here because I can make fun of him,” Thornton said. “I don’t agree with his views and the things he says…. In one of the videos I saw, he talked about abortion and how he feels about abortion. I look at him and think: ‘You don’t have a uterus, why do you have an opinion?’

Sofia Basurto, a freshman and political science major, described herself as an independent woman who wanted to hear everyone’s perspective and see what her peers had to say on certain topics. Basurto said: “As a woman, I disagree with many of his views on abortion.”

Students against Kirk stood aside and watched the commotion as he entered the debate area. When he arrived, red hats were thrown into the mostly male crowd, and some students even stood on the shoulders of their friends and begged for a Make America Great Again hat. “They’re literally throwing MAGA hats right now,” one student said in disbelief.

Isaac Bowers, a graduate student in hydrogeology, questioned the purpose of the tour, noting that Kirk’s on-camera debates don’t really convince anyone of anything they don’t already believe. “He only goes on these tours to obviously debate people,” Bowers said, “but it doesn’t seem like a lot of his views are going to change one way or another.”

Bowers continued, “It’s a bit ironic to me: It’s called ‘the Brainwashed Tour,’ but a lot of the people who are here don’t seem to be able to change their minds about anything, so it’s like they’ve been brainwashed themselves. somehow.”
