Chicago Bulls Star Makes NBA History Against Detroit Pistons

The Chicago Bulls are coming off a fairly disappointing 2024-2025 season, but with tempered offseason expectations, it’s hard to be upset about any results.

All-Star duo Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic have led the way for Chicago, averaging 41.4 points through the first fourteen games. The Bulls are off to a 5-9 start, but put together a strong performance against a surprisingly impressive Detroit Pistons team on Monday.

The Bulls jumped out to a 13-point lead early in the match, led by Vucevic who put in his best performance of the season so far. Vucevic tied his career-high with six 3-pointers in Detroit, to go along with his 29 points and 11 rebounds (and counting).

Vucevic hit his 800th career three-pointer, a major milestone in his career. But more importantly, Vucevic became only the third player in NBA history to record 800 three-pointers and 9,500 rebounds, joining LeBron James and Dirk Nowitzki.

With this milestone, Vucevic joins an elite company, positioning himself as one of the most prominent stretch giants of all time. The 34-year-old big man, especially in the last eight years of his career, has done a fantastic job of adapting to the modern game and expanding his arsenal to become a valuable shooter.

Vucevic attempted a total of 26 threes in the first five years of his career, but has since made that a big part of his game. While Vucevic is in no way close to James or Nowitzki, he has proven his significance by joining them in this feat.
