Chiefs-49ers injuries: JuJu Smith-Schuster ruled out with hamstring injury

The Kansas City Chiefs announced wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster out from their Week 7 game against the San Francisco 49ers. The club added that Smith-Schuster is dealing with a hamstring injury.

With the Chiefs already dealing with long-term injuries to wide receivers Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice, Smith-Schuster emerged as a target for quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the team’s win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 5. Smith-Schuster collected seven catches for 130 yards in the team’s 26–13 victory.

This week, Smith-Schuster emerged as one limited participant in Thursday’s training due to the injury to his hamstring. He could work in a limited capacity on Friday, and head coach Andy Reid seemed confident he could play against San Francisco.

However, midway through the first quarter, Smith-Schuster appeared to feel a little uncomfortable as he left the field. Then Kansas City made the announcement. The Chiefs have four other receivers active for the game: Mecole Hardman, Skyy Moore, Justin Watson and Xavier Worthy.
