The Kansas City Chiefs loved Xavier Worthy’s blazing speed when they selected him in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

After all, he rewrote the NFL Scouting Combine 40-yard dash record with a run of 4.21 seconds.

But no one expected what would happen when Worthy caught his first pitch in the NFL on Thursday night.

On the Chiefs’ first drive, it was Worthy’s turn to touch the ball on the fifth play, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes feigning a handoff to running back Isiah Pacheco and tossing the ball to Worthy, who flew behind him.

After Worthy won the ball, he looked up and saw a bunch of blockers in front of him and he hit his now-signature jets.

Worthy weaved his way past several Ravens defenders, was well blocked by his teammates and found the end zone for a 21-yard touchdown.

What a way to play your first NFL ball.

The Chiefs’ first touchdown of the season came after just five plays, and Worthy’s icing on the cake showed just how explosive Kansas City’s offense can be this season.

Worthy, a Texas product, had 1,014 yards with five receiving touchdowns last season for the Longhorns, which helped them reach the College Football Playoff.

And while he’ll be surrounded in the backfield by playmakers like Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice and Pacheco, Worthy will likely be a catalyst for the Chiefs because of his speed, especially if blockers can get in front of him.
