Despite a 6-0 start, the Chiefs offense has struggled for much of the season.

Hopkins will give the team a much-needed boost as it lost its two top receivers – Rashee Rice and Hollywood Brown – for the season.

Veteran receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster also aggravated a hamstring injury during the team’s 28-18 win over the 49ers on Sunday.

The Chiefs are also dealing with the absence of star running back Isiah Pacheco, who broke his fibula and is expected back next month.

While Travis Kelce remains a steady weapon for Mahomes, he is no longer the dominant target he once was. The tight end has 28 catches for 245 yards through six games this season and has yet to score a touchdown.

Hopkins, 32, is also in the latter stages of his career but is a significant improvement over the current options – led by speedy rookie Xavier Worthy.

Slowed by a knee injury in the preseason, Hopkins has slowly worked his way up to feeling speed all season, scoring a career-high 44 points in the Titans’ loss to the Bills on Sunday.

However, Hopkins missed the last few series of the 34–10 defeat with a calf problem.

Hopkins, who played for the Texans and Cardinals for years, had 1,057 receiving yards, 75 catches and seven touchdowns last season.

The Titans appear to be in the early stages of a rebuild, having started 1-5 in Brian Callahan’s first year as head coach.

Second-year starter Will Levis was a turnover mess in the first five games and is expected to miss next month with a shoulder injury.

Mason Rudolph started the Bills game in place of Levis.

The Chiefs play the Raiders on Sunday in what could be Hopkins’ debut with his new team.
