Loyalty, it’s almost here! In 90 minutes, the San Francisco 49ers will kick off their 2024 campaign. The team will begin the season without reigning AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles). McCaffrey, who was listed as questionable on the team’s final injury report of the week, will be out for the season opener. Meanwhile, starting left guard Aaron Banks (finger) was given the green light to play against the New York Jets on “Monday Night Football.”

Meanwhile, safety Talanoa Hufanga, who is still recovering from an ACL injury, will also miss the season opener. Hufanga made his return to the practice field in late August, and it appears the team is taking a conservative approach to his return. In a similar lineup change, the team activated safety Tracy Walker III from the practice squad who will be active tonight. Additionally, T Trent Williams was officially added to the active roster just hours before kickoff.
