Colorado Democratic Governor Jared Polis dismissed outrage over a video showing armed Venezuelan gang members in an apartment building as “imaginary,” despite ample evidence.

Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky responded to the governor’s denial: “I’m so disappointed.”

In a statement shared with the New York Post, Polis spokeswoman Shelby Wieman said claimed: “The Governor has already informed the Mayor that the state is prepared to support local law enforcement with assistance from state troopers and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation if needed.”

“But according to police intelligence, this alleged invasion is largely a product of Danielle Jurinsky’s imagination,” he added Wieman.

City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky was one of the first to address the issue, evacuating several residents from an apartment building occupied by armed gangs on Wednesday.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Jurinsky fired back at Polis, asking, “My question to the governor is, is this also a figment of the imagination of the Romeros? And the other resident that I helped get out of there, and the other residents that I’m still going to get out of there?”

Spokeswoman Shelby Wieman responded on Fox News Digital, saying, “(Governor Polis) hopes the city council members in charge will stop destroying their own city when they should be keeping it safe.”

“We know that violent crime in Aurora declined between 2022 and 2023, and we expect to see further declines in 2024. Additionally, the recent disinformation campaign threatens actual criminal investigations and could harm the small business climate in Aurora,” Wieman concluded.

More than 40,000 migrants have arrived in the Denver area since December 2022, according to a report from the New York Post.

“The situation is real, but it also needs to be put into context so that the reputation of an entire city of over 400,000 residents is not damaged by what happened in several isolated apartment buildings owned by the same out-of-state slumlord,” Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman said in an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital.

“There are people behind this who are just playing politics,” Danielle Jurinsky said. “I find that so sad because these are real people, just like the Romeros who are suffering on the other side of those doors, living behind four deadbolts and a door bar, living in fear every day in these complexes.”

“It’s promising that people across the board are actually seeing what’s happening,” Jurinsky said. “Video footage is only undeniable for our governor in Colorado. Everyone in the country is seeing this with their own eyes.”
