Cold front ushers in fall skies for Southeast Texas today!

Some will be in their 40s on Thursday morning, the coldest morning since early April!

Wednesday’s forecast:

HOUSTON – Highs will drop into the 70s Wednesday and Thursday. Humidity will be low, so it will be sunny and have a great fall feel. Houston is in the upper 40s Thursday morning. This is the coolest we’ve been in 192 days (April 4 was our last 40-degree day).

Following the Tropics:

There are two systems we look at in the tropics. Neither is a threat to Texas. The region in yellow will bring rain to Central America, but will be blocked from getting here by our front. The region in orange could impact Puerto Rico, but would then move north into the Atlantic Ocean (nowhere near the Gulf Coast).

The tropical season runs through November, but here in Southeast Texas we don’t see any more tropical systems after our first fronts arrive. As cold fronts strengthen, most tropical systems that form will be blocked from entering the Gulf of Mexico and could impact Mexico or the East Coast.

10-day forecast:

Our big fall front arrives Tuesday evening! This will take us from the highs of the 1990s to the highs of the 1970s. The weekend looks autumnal.
