Canadiens forward Cole Caufield was deeply affected by the loss of his friend Johnny Gaudreau in the offseason, and was given the opportunity early on to pay tribute to him.

Caufield scored the first goal of the Habs season with a quick one-timer from the slot. As he skated to the bench, Caufield tapped his chest and pointed to the sky, paying tribute to his late friend Gaudreau.
