College football scores, fixtures, updates: Kansas State at BYU and more

In week 4 of the American football season, many teams started competing and it did not disappoint.

Clemson started the game with a huge domination of their conference rival NC State, scoring 45 points in the first half to secure an easy win, showing that they can compete with Miami, who are at the top of the ACC.

The early games were also historic. James Madison scored more points in the first half against North Carolina than ever before in a wild 70-50 upset (UNC also had never allowed that many points in a half before Saturday). Later, Temple kicker Maddux Trujillo drilled a 64-yard field goal — the longest kick in 16 years and just one yard shy of Martin Gramatica’s record.

In the afternoon window, No. 18 Michigan defeated No. 11 USC in a way only the Wolverines could, essentially winning on their ground game alone. In another ranked-on-ranked matchup, No. 12 Utah held off No. 14 Oklahoma State for a Big 12 victory despite Utes QB Cameron Rising missing another game.

Later, Colorado provided the evening’s excitement when Shedeur Sanders scored a final TD to send the Buffs to overtime, where they would go on to win it as Colorado fans stormed the field not once, but twice. And No. 6 Tennessee had no problem beating No. 15 Oklahoma in their showdown in Norman.

These are the winners and losers from Week 4 of college football.

Live162 updates

  • K-State stopped on 4th down

Kansas State gets nothing done. QB Avery Johnson is tackled short on a 4th down keeper.

BYU is in control, 31-9, late 3rd quarter.

  • K-State kicks a FG

Kansas State uses 5:29 to run 12 plays and 64 yards, but ultimately gets a short field goal.

That cut BYU’s lead to 31-9 with 5:12 left in the third period.

  • BYU punt return touchdown!

Parker Kingston initially botched the punt return, but then scooped it up and ran 93 yards for an incredible score.

The Cougars are in great shape in Provo, leading 31-6 early in the third quarter.

  • This is the INT that set up BYU’s last TD

  • BYU intercepts the ball and then scores a touchdown!

BYU’s Harrison Taggart intercepts a pass from Kansas State QB Avery Johnson during the opening drive of the second half.

Two plays later, BYU finds itself in the end zone on a pass from Jake Retzlaff to Darius Lassiter.

The Cougars lead 24-6 against No. 13 K-State and an upset could be in the making.

  • Halftime: BYU 17, KSU 6

It looked like the Wildcats had things under control until two late turnovers changed everything.

  • BYU Meetings by KSU

The Wildcats gave up the ball twice in a row and the Cougars took advantage with two consecutive touchdowns.

  • Fans storm the court in Boulder… twice

Colorado fans stormed the field when the ball was initially fumbled, then were forced to leave while the play was reviewed.

It stood, and they stormed again. Party in Boulder!

  • This is the winning move for Colorado

  • The decision stands! Colorado wins!

Travis Hunter forces the fumble just short of the goal line. And the Buffaloes pull off an incredible comeback win in overtime!

  • Baylor fumbles…maybe

Baylor appeared to drop the ball near the goal line, meaning the game was over and Colorado won.

But the piece is being revised.

  • Landing in Colorado!

Micah Welch fires the ball from the 1-yard line as the Buffs score first in overtime.

They lead 38-31. Baylor has a chance to equal that.

  • Meanwhile, points are scarce in Provo as Kansas State leads BYU 6-3 as time ticks away in the first half.

  • Colorado-Baylor goes to overtime!

In the most improbable outcome you will ever see, Colorado forced overtime.

It’s 31-31 with more football in Boulder

  • Final Score: Tennessee 25, Oklahoma 15

The Vols score a key early SEC win and Josh Heupel’s return to Norman is a success.

  • TOUCH COLORADO!

Unreal! Shedeur Sanders finds LaJohntay Wester in the end zone on the last play of regulation time!

An incredible 43-yard throw and catch!

  • Oh no, Will Sheppard threw the touchdown pass to Shedeur Sanders that likely tied the score.

He got behind the defender. Instead, it’s incomplete. 2 seconds left. Ball on the Baylor 43

  • Colorado in motion

The Buffs moved it to Baylor territory, but they wasted a lot of time doing it.

It’s almost midfield and there are only 18 seconds left. CU has no more timeouts.

  • Touchdown Oklahoma

It’s too little too late, but Michael Hawkins leads the Sooners down the field for a touchdown. The lead is still 10, so that’s enough.
