College football scores, results: Georgia, Tennessee coming off huge SEC wins

Week 8 was a big week for the SEC.

In the first of the evening’s two marquee matchups, No. 11 Tennessee overcame a tough start to defeat No. 7 Alabama 24-17 in a dramatic finish. Later, No. 5 Georgia properly welcomed No. 1 Texas to the SEC, handing the Longhorns their first loss this season in a 30-15 battle.

In other play, quarterback Brady Cook suffered an early injury before leading No. 19 Missouri back for a win against Auburn in a gritty performance. Also on the agenda on Saturday: Travis Hunter. Colorado’s two-time star left at halftime after aggravating a shoulder injury, but the Buffaloes didn’t need him in a blowout win over Arizona.

No. 9 Iowa State remained undefeated this year with a late comeback victory over a spirited UCF team. The Cyclones trailed by two touchdowns in the second half of a velvety game before rallying and scoring the winning TD in the final minute.

In the Big Ten, defending champion Michigan suffered its third loss of the season, falling to No. 22 Illinois, and USC dropped its third straight conference game in a stunner at Maryland.
