College Football Week 2 2024 Predictions, Best Bets by Chris ‘The Bear’ Fallica

“Bear Bets” are real bets that Chris “The Bear” Fallica is actually making.

College football Week 2 is here!

Just like last year, we will post a selection every week and a gambling showI hope you’re as excited about this season as we are.

As always, I look forward to sharing my best football bets and betting tips (Bear Bytes) with you throughout the season.

So if you want to spend some money on the big games, I have the solution for you.

Let’s have some fun and hopefully make some money.

These are my favorite bets for week 2.

Dossier
Last week: 3-2
Season: 3-2

(All times ET)

Saturday September 7th

Georgia technology @ Syracuse (afternoon, ACC Network)

Will we change our opinion of Georgia Tech after seeing how bad FSU is? Not that the Jackets aren’t a good team, but maybe that FSU surprise will be taken down a few levels in terms of perception. We’ll see how their defense fares against a team that can actually complete a forward pass with Kyle McCord, Oronde Gadsden and the Orange receiving corps.

CHOICE: Syracuse (+3) loses by less than 3 points, or wins outright

Iowa State @ Iowa (3:30 p.m., CBS)

I’m not sure Iowa’s offensive issues have been resolved, as last week’s game was 6-0 at halftime before the Hawkeyes scored 21 points in the fourth quarter against FCS Illinois State. Kirk Ferentz is sidelined again, so I’m sure that’s a factor in a lot of people’s handicapping. But this is a much better team Iowa faces this week, and the offensive issues could rear their ugly head again. If Iowa State is as good a team as I think it is, it should leave Kinnick with a win.

CHOICE: Iowa State (+3) loses by less than 3 points, or wins outright

South Carolina @ Kentucky (3:30 p.m., ABC)

I’m trying not to overreact to Week 1, but it’s hard to watch South Carolina’s performance against Old Dominion without worrying. The Gamecocks’ touchdown drives against the Monarchs went for three and six yards on turnovers and didn’t do anything offensively all night. Against the visiting UK defense of Mark Stoops, things could have gone very badly. If this game ended with something like a 27-7 score, I wouldn’t be surprised at all.

CHOICE: Kentucky (-8.5) wins by more than 8.5 points

Colorado @ Nebraska (7:30 p.m., NBC)

This is going to be an unpopular pick, I bet, but I’m fine with taking the points here with Colorado. The Buffs are going to score, so I’m fine with sitting on the dog. Nebraska knocking off a terrible UTEP team doesn’t make me believe the Cornhuskers are going to be successful at stopping Sanders, Hunter, and Horn. The pressure on Nebraska is immense here. It needs to win the kind of game it hasn’t won in years. Win this game and you’re a favorite to go 7-0 against Ohio State. Dylan Raiola looked great in the opener. Everything about Nebraska is sky-high optimism right now. Let’s take advantage of an inflated price here.

CHOICE: Colorado (+7.5) loses by less than 7.5 points, or wins outright

Keyshawn on Coach Prime: “I made Colorado win the Big 12”

Keyshawn on Coach Prime: "I think Colorado is going to win the Big 12"

Houston @ Oklahoma (7:45 p.m., SEC Network)

I’m not sure if anyone dug deeply into the box score from their game against Temple, but it wasn’t all that flattering for the Sooners. Jackson Arnold’s 17 completions were good for just 145 yards. They had just 378 yards against potentially the worst team in the FBS, and No. 1 wide receiver Jalil Farooq is out for an extended period. Yes, the defense committed six turnovers, but can we count on that again this week? Houston didn’t look great offensively against UNLV, but the defense did a decent job. In that game, the Cougars had 308 yards and two offensive touchdowns. I’m counting on Willie Fritz to figure out something to shorten this game and keep the finale respectable.

CHOICE: Houston (+29) loses by less than 29 points, or wins outright

UNDERDOGS TO PLAY ON THE MONEYLINE:

Syracuse +125
Iowa is +145
Mississippi is +190
Colorado +250
Tulane +280
NC State +300
