Colorado’s Travis Hunter suffers shoulder injury vs. Kansas State

BOULDER, Colo. – Two-time Colorado star Travis Hunter left the Buffaloes’ game against No. 18 Kansas State on Saturday night with a right shoulder injury and did not return.

Hunter, a Heisman Trophy contender, appeared to suffer the injury on a hit by Kansas State safety Daniel Cobbs after hauling in a 14-yard reception in the second quarter. Hunter went to the locker room to have the injury evaluated and returned to the Buffaloes’ sideline early in the third quarter.

Hunter played 23 snaps on offense and 21 on defense in the first half, recording three catches for 26 yards plus one tackle. Redshirt freshman backup Colton Hood replaced him at cornerback.

Hunter is a preseason All-American and a projected first-round NFL draft pick. Hunter leads the Buffaloes with 587 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 49 catches. He has also recorded 17 tackles, three pass breakups and two interceptions on defense.

Colorado wide receiver Jimmy Horn Jr., the Buffaloes’ second-leading receiver with 347 yards this season, also left the game with an unspecified injury and did not return.
