Creighton volleyball dominates Marquette in four-set win

Creighton volleyball faced its toughest test of Big East play Tuesday night and passed it with flying colors.

The No. 6 Jays defeated Marquette 25-20, 25-18, 23-25, 25-12 at Sokol Arena in a nationally televised match, dominating what was a back-and-forth series between two of the best teams in the league.

CU (12-2, 2-0 Big East) pivoted to the right side, while MU (6-6, 2-1) tried to shut down outside hitters Ava Martin and Norah Sis.

Middle blockers Elise Goetzinger and Kiara Reinhardt – natives of Wisconsin – combined for 11 blocks and 21 kills on 42 swings. Redshirt freshman Jaya Johnson had eight kills on 19 attempts.

Creighton hosts Marquette again on Nov. 10 in Milwaukee. The Jays return to action on Friday against Butler in Indianapolis, and they head to Villanova and St. John’s for their next home game against Xavier on Oct. 18.
