Cris Collinsworth was impressed with what happened after Dan Campbell’s halftime interview

The Detroit Lions improved to an NFC-best 8-1 with a dramatic 26-23 come-from-behind victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday night.

This win was not easy for Dan Campbell’s team as they trailed by 16 points at half time. The Texans defense gave Jared Goff and the Lions an explosive rush in the first 30 minutes and it felt like it just wasn’t going to be Detroit’s night for large parts of the game.

However, things seemed to change right after Campbell’s halftime interview on NBC, where he passionately explained to Melissa Stark that his defense needed some turnovers to get the team back in it.

“We have to have takeaways,” Campbell said. “Our defense needs to know a few things. We’re not going to get it all at once here. So just one at a time. We’ll do that.”

And do you know what happened when that interview was played on TV? His defense got a takeaway. Cris Collinsworth and Mike Tirico rightly couldn’t believe the timing:

“Has that ever happened in the history of television?” Collinsworth shouted after Carlton Davis picked off a pass from CJ Stroud.

Incredible.

The Lions shutout the Texans in the second half, winning the game with a 52-yard field goal as time expired.
