Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants become the most streamed regular season game in NFL history

The Dallas Cowboys have one of the most voracious fan bases in all of football. Their fans can’t get enough of it and there are a lot of them. And Dallas is always moving the needle in different media formats. On Thursday Night Football against the New York Giants, the Cowboys once again proved that they are one of the most popular brands in all of sports.

The Amazon Prime broadcast cemented its place in sports media history as the Cowboys defeated the Giants 20-15. The game averaged 16.22 million viewers, a record high for Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime. It also means it’s the most-streamed NFL regular-season game in history. The game attracted a peak audience of over 18 million viewers during its broadcast for the second time in three weeks. It also reached many new all-time records in critical demographic groups, according to a release tweeted on Friday evening by Albert Breer.

Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lam led the way, hauling in seven catches for 98 yards and a touchdown. Dallas running back Rico Dowdle had 11 carries for 46 yards. Giants rookie receiver Malik Nabers continues to dominate. He hauled in 12 catches for 115 yards and no touchdowns. Nabers had to leave the game late in the fourth quarter after suffering a concussion. He tried to reel in a catch while dragging his feet in the lane, but crashed into the ground mask first.

Unfortunately for Cowboys fans, they also had to deal with a number of injuries on Thursday night. Star linebacker Micah Parsons and defenseman DeMarcus Lawrence were both beaten up. Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy revealed that both of their injuries are actually worse than they initially expected. So we’ll have to see how long both players are out. They are two of the most important players on their defensive unit, so the sooner the better for Dallas fans.

Next up, the Cowboys will face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, September 6. With the win, they moved to 2-2 in the 2024 campaign. The New York Giants fell to 1-3 overall.
