Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants Recap: Scores, Updates, Highlights, More

1st quarter

The New York Giants won the coin toss and deferred, giving the offense a chance to give the team a lead to play with. Dallas went three and out, so that was that.

New York started to get moving and had a huge conversion on their first third to rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers. They eventually stopped, but not before coming away with a field goal for the first points of the game.

It was at this point that the Dallas Cowboys got down to business in earnest. Over the course of 12 plays, they eventually (call penalties) traveled 95 yards thanks to some remarkable work by Dak Prescott. The possession ended with a screen pass to Rico Dowdle, which set up a touchdown. A penalty was initially called, but it was saved.

The quarter ended a few plays later when the Giants had the ball.

Remarkable recent news

A loss on Thursday night would give Dallas a 1-3 record through the first four games of a season for the eighth time in franchise history. Hopefully that’s not the case.

As for the Giants, both Adoree Jackson and Dru Phillips were ruled out.

NFL news relevant to the Cowboys

This is the first game of the week, so not much has happened so far. But as far as the NFC East goes, since we always keep an eye on it, this is clearly a divisional game, which means there are only two left in the week.

The Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders are both on the road this week, taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Arizona Cardinals, respectively. For the Eagles, it is a rematch of the Wild Card game they lost last season, a game that also took place in Tampa Bay.

Next up for the Cowboys

The Cowboys will get a mini-bye to hopefully celebrate a win and will be back in primetime action soon enough when they visit the Pittsburgh Steelers next week. Sunday night football.

As of Week 4, the Steelers are one of the remaining undefeated teams in the league and host the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
