Davante Adams hasn’t spoken to Raiders’ Pierce since IG activity

Davante Adams said he hasn’t spoken to Antonio Pierce since a social media account associated with the Las Vegas Raiders coach liked a post questioning whether the star wide receiver played his last loss with the team.

Adams, who appeared on Tuesday’s “Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams,” was asked about the verified account linked to Pierce liking Sports Illustrated’s Instagram post. The like from the Pierce account has since been removed from the SI post.

“I haven’t heard from him. I haven’t talked to him,” Davante Adams said when asked if he had heard from Pierce. “…Social media is a beast, so there are a lot of people who have seen it and are wondering what’s going on and are reaching out.”

Told by Kay Adams that many people think he played out his last loss with the Raiders, Davante Adams said: “The only thing I can control is this conversation we’re having here and after we’re done with this, the only thing I can check the next thing I’m doing.”

Adams missed the Raiders’ Week 4 win over the Cleveland Browns with a hamstring injury suffered during practice last Thursday. The injury is expected to sideline him on a weekly basis, league sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter over the weekend.

Adams said Tuesday that he’s “trying to get healthy and doing everything he can to stay on top of that because the worst thing you can do, especially in a hammy situation, is try to force it, go out there and in the long run time to do damage because you are trying to be greedy and don’t understand the process. It’s not fun at all not being there, but I think my teammates will appreciate it more in the long run.”

The Raiders’ win over the Browns came a week after Pierce told reporters following an embarrassing home loss to the Carolina Panthers that he thought “there were certainly some individuals who made business decisions, and we will make business decisions in the future to take.” Pierce apologized for those comments on Sunday.

However, his original comments led to speculation that the Raiders would consider trading Adams, but that isn’t an option right now — and it wasn’t the case last summer.

The Raiders turned down multiple teams that approached them this summer, asking if Adams would be available in a trade, league sources told Schefter this weekend. The Raiders considered an Adams trade a nonstarter and turned down at least two teams before an offer could even be made, the sources told Schefter.

There has been consistent speculation that the New York Jets would be interested in trading Adams to reunite him with Aaron Rodgers, his old quarterback with the Green Bay Packers. There is also speculation that the Kansas City Chiefs could target Adams after Rashee Rice suffered a knee injury last Sunday.

Adams said Tuesday that the ongoing trade rumors are “nasty.”

“It definitely gets annoying, but I’m one of those players that people like to talk about somehow. Thank God for blessing me with the ability to just focus on what I need to focus on and not.” be distracted by the outside noise,” he said.

He added, “You know, it’s just a weekly thing of what’s going on with Tae. There’s always some kind of drama. At the end of the day, 17 doesn’t create any of it, so people can say whatever they want. But I im just chilling trying to be the model by not stirring the pot and just locking up and doing what i gotta do.
