Dave Coulier Group texted Full House Costars about his cancer diagnosis

Dave Coulier feels the love of his former Full house costars after he told them about his cancer diagnosis.

“I didn’t want them to hear it from someone else, so I sent a text message,” said 65-year-old Coulier during an interview with People published on Wednesday, November 13.

The actor, who played Joey Gladstone Full house from 1987 to 1995 and was featured in the Fuller house revival, said the response from his TV family “was immediate.”

“It was just this outpouring of, ‘I’ll be there. Just name the time, and I know you’ll be in good hands with (woman Melissa Bring), but what can we do?’” Coulier recalled. “It’s really overwhelming how much love we have for each other. We’ve been there for each other for so many years, and it’s pretty remarkable.

The close-knit crew has endured tragedies before. Bob Sagetwho played Full house patriarch Danny Tanner died in 2022 at the age of 65, and Coulier said the loss brought the group even closer.

“I think we value not only our lives together, but our lives together,” he said. “We appreciate those good times and the positive moments we were able to share. … There’s not a lot of negatives when I’m with that group of people. It’s really just laughter and positivity, and appreciating so much what we have in our lives and the people around us.”

Johannes Stamoswho played Uncle Jesse on the beloved sitcom, has plans to visit Coulier later this week as he undergoes chemotherapy treatment.

“He says, ‘If you just want to sleep, I’ll just sit with you.’ Or if you want to listen to music or just talk, whatever,” Coulier, Stamos, 61, told him before the visit. “And I’m like, ‘Wow. That’s like a brother. That’s really a brother. ”

Coulier was diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma in October after an upper respiratory infection resulted in severe swelling of his lymph nodes. A subsequent biopsy and PET and CT scans revealed he had “very aggressive” cancer.

“I went from having a little cold to having cancer, and it was pretty overwhelming,” Coulier said. “This has truly been a fast roller coaster ride of a journey.”

Coulier has already received some good news during his battle with cancer: He has learned that the disease, which starts in the body’s lymphatic system, has not spread to his bone marrow.

“At that point, my chances of recovery went from slightly low to (the) 90 percent,” he said. “And so that was a great day.”

Coulier feels motivated to keep fighting for Brig, whom he married in 2014.

“I will be strong during this time, not only for me, but I will be strong for her,” he said.

The comedian noted that he has “a lot to look forward to” as his son Luc, 33, who he shares with his ex-wife Jayne Modeanand his wife Alex are expecting a baby boy in March.

“I have to teach (my grandson) how to play hockey,” Coulier said.
