All DCSD home football matches will use technology from tonight

(STONE MOUNTAIN, GA)—The DeKalb County School District (DCSD) improves safety for the 2024-2025 school year by Evolv Express® weapon detection system to more locations and campuses.

This advanced technology, which has already proven effective in 41 high schools across the district, is now being deployed in five football stadiums, six additional high school programs and centers, and the DCSD’s headquarters, the Robert R. Freeman Administrative & Instructional Complex in Stone Mountain.

Starting this season, visitors attending DCSD football and basketball home games will experience the enhanced safety and convenience provided by the Evolv system. Widely used in professional sports arenas, concert venues, schools and other public facilities, this state-of-the-art technology uses powerful sensor technology, artificial intelligence and extensive location analytics to ensure accurate and rapid threat detection.

“What people like most about the EVOLV Weapon Detection System is that it allows people to move through without having to stop, empty their pockets or bags, or wait in long lines,” said DCSD Police Chief Tracey Whaley. “We can do this because we have specially trained security personnel monitoring the stations in real time and can quickly identify and address any potential threats or concerns.”

Chief Whaley also reminded all attendees at DCSD sporting events that the district will continue to enforce its clear bag policy.
