A 65-year-old Newark woman is now $300,000 richer after winning the top prize on the Mega Bucks Blowout scratch-off game.

The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, bought the winning ticket at Food Lion in the Beaver Brook Plaza near New Castle, the Delaware Lottery said. She claimed her prize on July 17.

The woman, who regularly plays $30 lottery tickets, normally buys one or two a week, but this is the first time she has won something this big, officials said.

She and her husband feel very blessed to have won this prize. The prize came at just the right time, as they wanted to renovate their home and use the rest of the proceeds to save money for the future, authorities said.

“We are thrilled to congratulate our latest MEGA BUCKS BLOWOUT winner,” said Helene Keeley, Delaware Lottery President. “It’s great to see our players win so big. It’s a testament to the excitement and opportunities our games provide.”

There’s one more top prize of $300,000 up for grabs in the Mega Bucks Blowout scratchoff.
