Denver Broncos player grades from dominant win over Atlanta Falcons

After a two-game skid, the Denver Broncos got back on track through the Atlanta Falcons 38-6 at mile high. The Broncos handled the Falcons with ease on both sides of the ball, blowing them out of the air and trampling them.

This was a great game by the Broncos to get them back on track and keep their playoff dreams alive. Denver now has a 43% chance of making the playoffs and practically controls its destiny to win the AFC’s No. 7 seed.

There were many excellent performances, both individually and per unit, so let’s take a look at the numbers.

This was Nix’s best game statistically and technically. His technique was clean and consistent.

There is still some concern about the pressure to get home and him falling back into bad habits and poor technique, but the few times Nix was pressured against the Falcons, it showed promise. This should make him the new favorite for the Offensive Rookie for the Year award.

One thing can be said about Williams: when things go bad for him, he tends to bounce back. It would be great for him to find some consistency between games, but that hasn’t happened this year.

It may be time to see less of Humphrey on the field. While he played excellently for a touchdown, the bad outweighed the good as a blocker and receiver.

Sutton, Vele, and Franklin are the top three receivers on this team, and while he didn’t play enough snaps to get a grade, Marvin Mims Jr.’s new role is a big one. very effective in attack.

Adkins had game play as a blocker and receiver. His blocking helped the Broncos make significant gains. Trautman was a problem for the offense, but like others who had rough games, thankfully it wasn’t enough to stop the Broncos.

Both tackles turned in solid games, although the Falcons have had issues with their pass rushers off the edge. The Broncos tackle duo conceded a few plays to the Falcons defense, but they were few and far between.

Meinerz was his usual excellent self and was a big reason for the Broncos’ best filmmaking since Payton Manning played quarterback. Powers was solid, although there were some flaws from him. Wattenberg had issues all game, and thankfully they didn’t result in the Broncos offense having an off day.

Internal defense line:

The defensive line did a great job, with Franklin-Myers and Allen dominating in the trenches. Jones and Roach each had a couple big plays, but other than that, the Falcons’ interior offensive line held its own against them.

Bonitto remains an excellent pass rusher, but he got his act together even if the Falcons tried to run against him at times. Tillman and Elliss stepped up and made some big plays as rotational defenders, which was necessary as Cooper struggled against the Falcons, especially as a run blocker.

Overall, Barton’s grade is solid, but the interception elevates it. If you take that game out of the equation, his grade drops to 55.1. Barton and Strnad had some issues with the Falcons’ running game, though they both made enough plays to keep their numbers positive. This was the worst game for the Broncos linebackers this season.

Surtain continues to make a strong case for the Defensive Player of the Year award as he has been the best cornerback in the NFL this season. Moss and McMillian had solid games in coverage and as run defenders.

It was good to see Wallace getting on the field more, although most of his time was spent working as a safety in the hybrid looks that Vance gives Joseph. Wallace did quite well in his twenty pictures.

There was concern that Key would get the start for the injured Brandon Jones, but he had a good game after the debacle that was the Ravens game. It was a good rebounding game for him, and he showed good development from where he was while also playing in a more comfortable defense. Locke was solid, but dropping an interception is always tough.
