Denver could see the first snow, two feet high in the mountains

A snowstorm expected to arrive in the mountains Tuesday will move into the metro Wednesday morning, potentially showering Denver with its first snow of the season, the National Weather Service said.

NWS forecasters say the snow falling in the Denver area this week is unlikely to stick around. Less than an inch of accumulation is expected.

“Light snow will be possible along the Front Range and across the Plains Wednesday morning,” NWS meteorologists said in their hazardous weather outlook.

By the time the storm moves through Wednesday evening, mountain passes and higher elevations in Colorado could see more than two feet of fresh snow, according to NWS forecasters.
