play

Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta was carted to the locker room just before halftime, returned to the game and was quickly ejected on Sunday afternoon in Week 3 of the NFL season against the Arizona Cardinals.

LaPorta gingerly walked off the field after the Lions’ third touchdown just before halftime on a hook-and-ladder play. He was shown on the Fox broadcast being wheeled to the locker room on the ensuing kickoff.

LaPorta was on the field warming up for the second half and was back on the Lions’ first possession of the third quarter. But after crossing the line and making a block on the second play, he limped to the sideline and sat on the bench with an ice pack on his right ankle and doubtful to returnHe was replaced by reserve Brock Wright.

Injury impacts fantasy football, making LaPorta one of the league’s best tight ends despite his slow start to the season.
