Did Cris Collinsworth forget the NFL’s rules for overtime in the Lions-Rams regular season? Fans think so.

Sometimes it’s hard to remember that the NFL has two sets of rules for overtime between the regular season and the playoffs.

In the regular season, the game ends when the team that gets the ball first scores a touchdown. The other team is not allowed to touch the ball.

Things are different in the playoffs, and maybe that’s what happened to Cris Collinsworth on Sunday night, as the Detroit Lions went on a rampage marching down the field and eventually scoring a touchdown to beat the Los Angeles Rams in overtime.

“You start thinking, how much do you need before you line up and kick?” Collinsworth said. “You start thinking about which side do you want your kicker to kick from?”

That was while the Lions were in the red zone and you can hear Mike Tirico Collinsworth making it clear that a touchdown would decide the game.
