Gamers who felt like playing Fortnitemares today will have to wait until tomorrow.

The upcoming seasonal Fortnite update, Fortnitemares, has been delayed by almost 24 hours.

Here’s what you need to know.

Fortnite announced Fortnitemares on October 8

Fortnite shared a teaser trailer for the upcoming update to X, formerly Twitter, on October. They announced that this update would be released on Friday, October 11th.

Fortnite repeats the Fortnitemares drop

Fortnite tweeted on October 10 at 10am to remind players that Fortnitemares would start the next day.

“Sharpen your tools and prepare to be scared. FORTNITEMARES – TOMORROW!”

Fortnite update delay announced

To perform the update, the servers will be offline, making the game unplayable. So when updates are performed, they schedule downtime.

On October 11 around 2 a.m., Fortnite announced that they had delayed the start of downtime for the update, but only planned to delay it by a few hours.

An hour later, Fortnite announced that downtime wouldn’t begin until 2 a.m. on October 12.

How to check the status of Fortnite

After 2 a.m. on October 12, Fortnite will not be playable. While there’s currently no confirmation on when they plan to have the game back up and running after the downtime, you can check status.epicgames.com.

The X account FortniteStatus also regularly shares status updates about the downtime.
