Disney closes beloved Muppets movie attraction, relocates characters

The Muppets will soon have a new home at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

To make room for the new Monsters, Inc. site. announced this summer, the park will close the existing Muppet*Vision 3D movie attraction. Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and other beloved characters will instead move to the Sunset Boulevard area of ​​the park, taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, one of the park’s most popular attractions. The ride currently has an Aerosmith theme.

The redesigned ride will see Muppets characters mingle with music stars for a music festival.

“We know so many of you share our love for The Muppets and know their energy is a perfect fit for this roller coaster,” said a Disney Parks Blog post. “Plus, as the first ever Disney attraction to feature The Muppets, there will certainly be laughs, screams and new tunes for this attraction for fans to enjoy during the adventure, and there will be plenty of Muppets-themed merchandise on Sunset Boulevard!”

Disney did not indicate when the changes would take place. The blog post states that the company is “having creative conversations and exploring ways to preserve the film and other parts of the experience so fans can enjoy it in the future.”

Construction of the Monsters, Inc. site. is expected to begin in 2025. A first of its kind in a Disney park, the area will feature a suspended roller coaster ride that takes riders through the doors of the Laugh Factory, a new theater show and dining options. and shopping.
