Disruptions expected due to closure of Surf Coast Highway

Road users in Greater Geelong and the Surf Coast will need to find an alternative route between the two municipalities as road crossing works on the Surf Coast Highway take place from tomorrow (Wednesday 31 July).

Victoria’s Big Build, part of the Regional Rail Revival, has announced that the Surf Coast Highway between Felix Street and Baanip Boulevard will be closed from Wednesday until August 17.

“While the road is closed, we are working to completely remove the level crossings and complete the works in the area, so that trains can use the new railway bridge again when services resume at the end of August,” a spokesperson for the project said.

Please note that the closure of Marshalltown Road has been extended until August 7. Diversions will be in place and this will cause additional travel time.

“There will still be a shuttle bus available for pedestrians to go from one side of the railway line to the other at Marshalltown Road.”

Affected vehicle users are encouraged to use the Geelong Ring Road and Barwon Heads Road to access the Armstrong Creek growth area.

Pioneer Road and Reserve Road are open to local traffic only.
