Dodgers-Padres NLDS Game 2 temporarily suspended after fans throw items on the field

Game 2 of the National League Division Series was temporarily suspended Sunday night after fans appeared to throw objects from the stands at players on the field. Padres 10-2 win over the Dodgers.

It happened during the bottom of the seventh inning, when the Dodgers would come to bat trailing by three runs.

At first, San Diego Padres fielder Jurickson Profar appeared to be jawing with some fans in the stands when a baseball came flying toward him and landed in the outfield grass. He immediately ran after the ball and shouted at the referee team.

Soon after, more items began making their way from the crowd onto the field near right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr., who has been drawing cheers from the Dodger faithful since he first appeared in the major leagues.

The game was halted for nearly 15 minutes when Dodger Stadium security flooded the outfield and walked past the warning track as all players were removed from the diamond.

It is unclear whether the fans who threw the objects have been identified and whether they have received any form of punishment for their actions.

Earlier in the match, Tatis Jr. crushed the second pitch he saw from Flaherty to right field, starting their scoring streak. In the bottom of the inning, Profar made an improbable catch, robbing Mookie Betts of a home run that could have tied the game at 1-1.
