Smile 2– a sequel to the popular 2022 horror thriller Smile-is new in theaters. Do the film’s opening credits tell us anything about where the franchise goes from here?

The original Smile follows a curse that is passed on to Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) after the psychiatrist gruesomely witnesses a patient commit suicide. Unbeknownst to Rose, the patient’s death passed on to her a malevolent, invisible force that only seems to manifest itself in the form of visions of people giving her maniacal smiles.

The log line for Smile 2 reads: “On the verge of embarking on a world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and pressures of fame, Skye is forced to confront her past.

Aladdin star Jasmine actor Naomi Scott plays Skye Smile 2while Strange dear star Kyle Gallner reprises the role of Joel: a detective and ex-boyfriend of Rose who discovers a pattern of cases similar to Rose’s patient in the first episode. Smile film.

What happens during the end credits of ‘Smile 2’?

In general, an end credits scene serves one of two functions. First, a scene during the credits or after the credits can tie up loose ends from a scene earlier in the film.

Additionally, an end credits or post-credits scene could provide a possible sequel to the film.

However, just because Smile 2 has no end credits or post-credits scene doesn’t mean the franchise is over. In fact, the final scene – which won’t be revealed here for spoiler reasons – leaves the door wide open Smile 3. Considering the last two shots of the film, a third Smile film promises to be on a much larger scale than the first two Smile movies.

Naturally, Smile 2 has to be a hit at the box office before studio Paramount Pictures can justify financing a new sequel, and from early indications it seems that Smile 2 will make a healthy start.

Deadline projects Smile 2 will earn more than $20 million at the box office in its opening weekend, against a production budget of $28 million, excluding prints and advertising costs.

The Hollywood trade publication reported that the former Smile opened with $22 million in domestic ticket sales in 2022 against a pre-P&A production budget of $17 million. As such, the sequel appears to be on the same box office trajectory as the original, albeit with a bigger (but not excessive) budget.

According to The numbersthe first Smile earned $105.9 million domestically and $111.1 million internationally, for a worldwide box office of $217 million. If Smile 2 gross somewhere around those numbers, don’t be surprised if Smile 3 gets the go-ahead.
