Dog survives hurricane that killed owners in Florida

A TV reporter rushed to care for a dog rescued from the rubble after a tornado ripped through a Florida community.

The CBS News reporter was preparing to go on air when the dog, named Benji, was picked up near a destroyed home.

The dog’s owners died when the tornado ripped through Fort Pierce, on Florida’s east coast, CBS reported.

At least five people died due to tornadoes across the state as Hurricane Milton moved in.

St. Lucie County officials said the deaths were the result of at least two tornadoes that hit the area before Milton himself arrived late Wednesday.
