Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa finds De’Von Achane for a 9-yard touchdown

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins offense has found its rhythm.

The Dolphins scored on consecutive possessions to start the second quarter, giving them a 14-0 lead over the New England Patriots on a 9-yard pass from Tua Tagovailoa to running back De’Von Achane. Tight end Jonnu Smith opened the scoring with a 7-yard touchdown the drive before.

On the second goal from the Patriots’ 9-yard line, Miami gestured Achane from the right slot to the left flat. Tagovailoa knocked the sophomore back immediately after receiving the snap, and Achane powered his way into the end zone for his seventh scrimmage touchdown of the season.

The score capped a nine-play, 66-yard drive. Their second scoring drive in three possessions Sunday reflects how efficient the Dolphins’ offense has been over the past month. Since Tagovailoa’s return in Week 8, Miami has scored on 60.5% of their 38 offensive plays.
