Dozens of lots affected by broken water mains in Lemmon Valley

A water main break is causing flooding in Lemmon Valley near Matterhorn Drive Thursday morning, leading to evacuations and road closures. Water is turned off.

Evacuations were lifted just before 12:45 p.m. Road closures are in effect in the following areas:

  • Tupelo Street
  • Idaho Street
  • Arizona Street
  • Deodar Road
  • Mistletoe Street
  • Heartpine Street
  • Oregon Boulevard
  • Sitka Street
  • Matterhorn Boulevard

Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue (TMFR) and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

As of 9:30 a.m., authorities say water levels in the Lemon Valley region are receding.

24 lots have been affected by flooding and 2 houses have been affected by water in the living areas. Earlier in the morning, the fire brigade helped elderly residents and, where necessary, provided support in pumping out water.

A map of the evacuation perimeters can be found here.
