Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson reveals controversial attitude

Johnson explained his controversial stance in an interview published on Sunday, November 24, in which the 52-year-old actor narrated BBC that he actually sides with the singers.

“Sing! You paid your hard-earned money for a ticket, you went to a musical and you love it. Sing,” Johnson told the outlet before adding, “Especially if you love music, that’s the fun part .”

Despite what the part-time professional wrestler may think, some have taken to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share their views on theater etiquette.

One user wrote: “I can’t believe people are told not to sing along during the Wicked movie and are so worked up about it when they do. Her: ‘But it’s a musical!’ Me: ‘Yes, and you’re not in on it.'” A second user disagreed, saying: “If you see me singing angrily, think about your godly business or better yet, sing also joined in, ‘while a third gave in,’ went into tonight badly, ready to scream at any loser theater kid who tried to sing along, while ultimately having to restrain myself from singing.

In an article by the Indianapolis star published on November 19, a spokesperson for AMC Theaters commented on fans singing during screenings, saying: “AMC has long-standing policies prohibiting disruptive behavior. The ‘Wicked’ preshow spot (including ‘no singing’) includes the themes of the film as a fun, engaging reminder to moviegoers not to disrupt the experience of those around them as they enjoy the show.

Although singing is not currently encouraged in theaters, there will be a sing-along version of it Bad which actually encourages audience members to sing out loud – and do exactly what The Rock suggested – will hit theaters this Christmas, according to a report from Variety.
