Effigy of Ticketmaster is burned at Edenbridge Bonfire Night after controversy over Oasis tickets

A giant effigy from ticket sales website Ticketmaster goes up in flames during an annual fireworks festival.

During the annual Edenbridge Bonfire celebration, which takes place on the town’s leisure grounds, it has been announced that an effigy of the online ticket seller will be burned as part of the exhibition this year.

It comes after controversy over people facing long queues and problems getting tickets for the highly anticipated Oasis reunion next year.

Edenbridge Bonfire Society today revealed that it will burn a wooden figure in a blue suit and money signs representing the venue, which also features Noel and Liam Gallagher puppets, on Saturday, November 2.

The procession usually starts around 6:30 PM and the fireworks start a few hours later.

Last year, an effigy of London mayor Sadiq Khan was burned following his controversial ULEZ plan, which saw former Prime Minister Liz Truss set on fire the year before.

Truss was pictured holding a Guinness Book of World Records as the shortest-serving Prime Minister in the country’s history, and slapping her shoulder, a reference to the Daily Star’s livestream of an iceberg lettuce that survived her time at No. 10.

Every year since 1994, a 10-metre high effigy of a celebrity has been burned as part of the festivities.

In the past, the wooden figure has taken the form of Boris Johnson, Donald Trump, Katie Hopkins, Jonathan Ross, Katie Price, Wayne Rooney, Lance Armstrong, Gordon Brown, John Prescott, Anne Robinson and Saddam Hussein.

The society has been celebrating Bonfire Night for more than 90 years and more than 750 people are known to take part in the torch-lit parade down Edenbridge High Street.
