Eight players, including Milan’s Ballon d’Or winner Gianni Rivera, were younger than Francesco Camarda when they started their first Serie A match.

Milan striker Camarda, who is 16 years and 241 days old, will start in a Serie A match for the first time today.

Coach Paulo Fonseca announced his decision on Friday during a press conference before the match.

Alvaro Morata and Luka Jovic are injured, while Tammy Abraham is available after recovering from a shoulder injury but is not fully fit.

We already know that Camarda will beat Donnarumma in just one day to become the youngest Serie A starter for the Rossoneri in the three-point era, but eight players were younger than the Italian talent when they made their full Serie A debuts.

Youngest Serie A starters – The top three

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the youngest Serie A starter is Amadeo Amadei, a Roma striker in 1937, when he made his first start in a league match against Lucchese at the age of 15 years and 288 days.

Gianni Rivera, one of the best players in Italy’s history and winner of the Ballon d’Or in 1969, was 15 years and 290 days old when he made his first start in Serie A for Alessandria in 1959.

Genoa’s Pietro Pellegrini was 16 years and 78 days old when he started against Roma in Francesco Totti’s last competitive match. The promising Italian striker, now at Empoli, even scored after three minutes.
