This season has been about as bad as it can get for the Oklahoma Sooners. Their bowl hopes became minuscule after their loss to Missouri Saturday night.

Oklahoma is so bad that Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz got the chance to take a shot at the Sooners and former OU head coach Bob Stoops.

“This will be a real disappointment for Bob Stoops,” Drinkwitz said at the start of his post-game press conference, “but OU doesn’t always give Missouri’s (expletive) a beating.”

Drinkwitz was responding to a comment Stoops made in the spring about the Sooners moving to the SEC. Stoops told ESPN: “We beat the (expletive) from Missouri, now all of a sudden we have to be afraid of them?”

And they had.

Prior to Saturday’s loss, the Sooners were 8-2 against the Tigers since 1999 and had a 67-24-5 record. Now that goes to 67-25-5 in their 97 matchup history.

But with this win, Drinkwitz gives Drinkwitz the upper hand over Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners, especially as they work on the recruiting trail in the Midwest.

The Sooners have a lot of exploring to do with a bye week and then games against Alabama and LSU to close out the season. Venables and OU are staring a losing season in the face for the second time in the past three seasons.
