Emily Gold, cheerleader on ‘America’s Got Talent’, dies by suicide at 17

Emily Gold, who performed on “America’s Got Talent” a month ago, has died by suicide at the age of 17.

The San Bernardino County coroner’s office told People that LGold, a Los Osos High School dancer, was found dead under a bridge on eastbound Highway 210 in Rancho Cucamonga at 11:52 a.m. on Friday, September 13.

“When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old female who had been struck by at least one other vehicle in the carpool lane on eastbound 210,” said Rodrigo Jimenez, Public Information Officer for the California Highway Patrol. “The female succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Last month, Gold joined the rest of the LOHS dance team on “America’s Got Talent.” They made it to the quarterfinals before ultimately being eliminated. Their performance was still strong enough to earn accolades from Simon Cowell.

“It was absolutely brilliant,” Cowell said after the group’s audition in May. “What I loved about it was the energy, first of all. I think I just saw everything a great school should do, which is encourage talent and encourage friendship.”

A GoFundMe account has been set up to raise money for Gold’s family. The goal is $50,000 and we’re already halfway there.

“It is with great sadness that we share that our Los Osos Grizzly Emily Gold has passed away,” the fundraiser reads. “Let us come together as a community and support the Gold family during this difficult time. Please know that these funds will go directly to the family to help support them and help with expenses.”
