Emotional Van Jones breaks down over Trump’s coming ‘nightmare’

CNN commentator Van Jones launched into another emotional monologue on election night as polls showed Donald Trump likely to take over the presidency. He told his fellow panelists that Wednesday will mark another day of terror for certain groups the former president targeted during his campaign.

“They thought tomorrow morning they would walk out with their shoulders slightly back, maybe breathe for the first time and feel like they belong somewhere,” Jones said just before 1 a.m. Wednesday. “They did everything they knew how to do, and it will be harder than it should be for them to keep their heads up tomorrow.”

Describing the plight of Black women, undocumented immigrants and trans children in the US, Jones said these groups and others will face threats to their way of life under another Trump administration.

“It’s easy to blow this off: ‘Oh, look at the elites, they’re going to get their comeuppance,’” Jones said. ‘It is not the elite who will pay the price. These are people who woke up this morning with a dream and went to bed with a nightmare, and those people didn’t deserve to be respected, held and talked about. Those are the people who are going to pay the price for whatever Donald Trump decides to do.”

Jones’ speech is one of many, often emotional, moments he has provided CNN viewers during this election season. Wednesday came as the votes showed Trump would likely decisively defeat Kamala Harris in this year’s presidential election.
