Britt Stewart may be the one teaching Eric Roberts ballroom dancing, but he also has his own lessons to teach.

Stewart and her season 31 partner, actor Daniel Durant, surprised fans of Dancing with the stars by announcing their engagement last December. The duo will tie the knot next year, and Roberts, who has been married to Eliza Garrett for 32 years, offered Stewart some advice on the keys to a successful marriage.

While Roberts initially laughed at co-host Julianne Hough’s suggestion that he could offer some insight to Stewart, the ballroom pro said she gained a lot of wisdom from her 68-year-old partner. Including perhaps some bedroom tips?

“We’re at Disney, so I’m not going to give his full advice,” Stewart joked. “But honesty is one thing, and I have to say that being engaged, getting married and then witnessing a marriage that lasts 32 years every day has come full circle.”

The duo danced a foxtrot to Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” as their number on Monday’s Soul Train Night, and Roberts dedicated the dance to his wife, who was in attendance. Both judge Derek Hough and guest judge Rosie Perez praised Roberts for the sweet emotion of such dedication.

In response to their comments, Roberts joked, “Well, I paid him a lot of money for that. No, it was very touching, especially (from) Rosie, because I know her and love her. She’s very nice.”

Stewart and Durant competed together in season 31 of the series Dancing with the stars in the fall of 2022, but the duo emphasized that their romance only began after the competition was over. “I think at that moment we realized what we had felt for each other,” Durant previously said of his feelings after being eliminated. “It was more than just friends and of course we connected after that and started dating.”

The pair finished in fifth place in their season, narrowly missing out on a spot in the season finale. On Valentine’s Day 2023, they made their relationship public. Durant, who is deaf, is best known for his role in Oscar Best Picture winner CODA. He is currently starring in Deaf West’s new production of Green Day’s American idiot in Los Angeles.

Roberts and Stewart earned a score of 24 from the judges on Monday, which will be combined with Tuesday night’s scores from Hair Metal Night.
